Steal a Brainrot is a Roblox tycoon game where you buy goofy meme characters called Brainrots, let them earn cash in your base, and sneak into other players' bases to steal theirs. The short version for beginners: buy the best Brainrot you can afford, collect its cash often, swap up to better ones, lock your base every time you walk away, and rebirth once you have everything the rebirth asks for. This guide covers each step, plus the rarities, the mistakes new players make and the trading scams to avoid.

How to play Steal a Brainrot: the short answer

The whole game is one loop that you repeat, getting a little stronger each time:

  1. Buy a Brainrot from the red carpet in the middle of the map.
  2. It walks back to your base and starts making cash every second.
  3. Walk over the plate in front of it to collect that cash.
  4. Spend the cash on better Brainrots and on gear from the shop.
  5. Lock your base when you leave it, and steal from bases that are left open.
  6. Rebirth when you have the cash and the Brainrots it asks for. You give those up, but you earn faster afterwards.

How a round of Steal a Brainrot works

There are no timed rounds and no winner at the end. Each server has a set of bases, one per player, lined up on both sides of a long red carpet, which many players call the conveyor belt. Brainrots come out of a cave at one end, walk slowly down the carpet and disappear at the other end if nobody buys them.

Your Brainrots, cash and rebirths are saved to your account, so you can join any server and carry on where you stopped. New players often worry about losing everything while they are away, but your base only exists in a server while you are in it. When you leave, your base and your Brainrots leave with you, so nobody can raid them while you are offline.

Buying Brainrots from the red carpet

Each Brainrot on the carpet has a label above it with its name, rarity, price and how much cash it makes per second. Walk up to the one you want and use the buy prompt. On a computer that is usually the E key, and on a phone or tablet you tap the button that pops up.

After you buy it, the Brainrot walks to your base on its own. Until it gets there, another player can pay more for it and send it to their base instead, so follow it home and do not celebrate early.

Your first buy is easy. You start with only a little cash, and the game points you to a cheap Common called Noobini Pizzanini. After that, a few rules help:

  • Fill empty slots first. An empty slot earns nothing, so even a weak Brainrot beats an empty space.
  • Compare cash per second, not only rarity. Your base has a limited number of slots, so the best buy is usually the one with the highest cash per second you can afford.
  • Sell your weakest Brainrot when you run out of room. You can sell a Brainrot from your base for part of what it cost, which frees a slot for something better.
  • Pick your fights at the carpet. When a very rare Brainrot appears, the game announces it and players rush over to grab it. With only the starting bat you will rarely win that scramble, so keep earning instead.

Earning money faster

Each Brainrot in your base makes cash every second. The cash piles up on the plate in front of it until you walk over the plate to collect it, and cash you have not collected cannot buy anything. Do a quick lap of your base before you head to the carpet, so you can afford the Brainrot you want when it shows up.

These are the main ways to earn more:

  • Better Brainrots. Higher rarities usually earn far more per second.
  • Mutations. Some Brainrots come with a mutation such as Gold, Diamond or Rainbow. A mutation changes how the Brainrot looks and multiplies its income, so a mutated Brainrot can out-earn a plain one of a higher rarity.
  • Traits. Special events, including the admin events the developers run, can give Brainrots traits. Traits also change the look and add income on top, and one Brainrot can carry several of them.
  • Rebirths. Every rebirth raises your cash multiplier for good.
  • The Index. The game keeps a list of every Brainrot you have owned, for each mutation. Filling in enough of it gives rewards such as a bigger cash multiplier and new base skins.

Your Brainrots also keep earning while you are offline, but only a small part of their normal rate and only for a limited time, so there is usually some cash waiting when you come back.

For parents: the game has a Robux Shop that sells boosts, gear, in-game cash and Lucky Blocks. A Lucky Block opens into a random Brainrot, a bit like a mystery box. None of it is needed to play or to progress, so it is worth agreeing on a rule about Robux spending before your child starts.

Locking your base

Every base has a lock pad. Step on it and lasers close across the entrance, which keeps other players out for a short time. A timer shows how long the lock has left. The lock lasts a little longer with every rebirth, but it never lasts forever, and once it runs out anyone can walk in. After your first rebirth you also get a friends control, which decides whether your friends can walk in while the base is locked.

Lock your base:

  • Every time you head to the red carpet.
  • When you step away from the screen, even for a minute.
  • Right after you buy or steal something valuable.
  • When you see someone walking toward your base.

The real skill is getting back home before the timer runs out. An unlocked base with nobody inside is exactly what thieves look for.

Stealing from other bases

Stealing is the heart of the game, and it is completely allowed. Here is how it works:

  1. Find a base with no lasers across the entrance. Owners who just ran to the carpet, or who have stepped away from their screen, are the classic targets.
  2. Walk in, go to the Brainrot you want and use the steal prompt.
  3. Carry it back to your own base. While you hold it you move slower, jump lower and cannot use gear, and the owner gets an alert with an alarm sound.
  4. If you reach your base, it is yours. If someone hits you with a bat or a slap on the way, the Brainrot goes straight back to its owner's base.

A few Steal a Brainrot tips and tricks for thieves:

  • Steal for income. Carrying a Common across the map is a lot of risk for very little cash. Go for Brainrots that would clearly beat your worst one.
  • Think about the route home. The closer the target base is to yours, the less time the owner has to catch you.
  • Watch the timers. Wait near a base whose lock is about to run out instead of running back and forth.
  • Team up with a friend. One of you keeps the owner busy while the other grabs the Brainrot.

Keep it fair, though. Exploits and cheat programs break the Roblox rules, can get your account banned, and many "cheat" downloads are built to steal accounts. Our Roblox account safety guide explains how to spot them.

Defending your base

Sooner or later someone will steal from you. Here is how to handle it:

  • Lock first, chase second. If your base is open and one thief runs off, lock it before you give chase. Otherwise other players walk in behind you, and you lose several Brainrots instead of one.
  • Hit the thief. Every player starts with a bat. Hit someone who is carrying your Brainrot and it goes back to your base.
  • Swap the bat for a slap early. The shop sells a Slap that reaches further than the bat, and you do not need a rebirth to buy it. It is a good first piece of gear once your slots are filling up.
  • Set traps. Traps from the shop freeze a thief for a few seconds, and you can buy them before your first rebirth too. Each rebirth unlocks more gear, but early on, more Brainrots is still the better buy.
  • Keep your best Brainrots upstairs. Once your base has a second floor, put your best Brainrots on the top floor. They take longer to reach and longer to carry out.
  • Play with a friend. One of you guards the bases while the other goes shopping.

Steal a Brainrot rarities explained

Every Brainrot has a rarity. Rarer ones show up on the carpet less often, cost more and earn a lot more. From most common to rarest, the main rarities are:

  • Common: the starter tier. You see these all the time.
  • Rare: still very common, and a small step up in income.
  • Epic: the usual early-game upgrade.
  • Legendary: harder to find, and a big jump in income.
  • Mythic: clearly rarer, and some rebirths ask for one.
  • Brainrot God: rare enough that the game announces it and calls out its name when one appears.
  • Secret: very rare, announced to everyone in the server, and among the biggest earners in the game.
  • OG: the rarest tier, with only a handful of Brainrots in it.

On top of these, holidays and admin events bring limited rarities that only stay around for a while. Rarity and mutation are separate things, too. A Gold Epic is still an Epic, but it earns more than a plain one.

We do not list prices or trade values here on purpose. They change with updates, and any number we wrote today would soon be wrong.

How rebirth works in Steal a Brainrot

Rebirth is how you move into the later game. Open the rebirth menu and it shows what you need: a set amount of cash plus one or two specific Brainrots in your base.

When you rebirth, you give up the Brainrots it asked for and your cash is reset. In return you get:

  • A bigger cash multiplier, so every Brainrot earns more from then on.
  • A little extra time on your base lock.
  • More room for Brainrots, including new floors on your base.
  • New gear in the shop.
  • A cash bonus to help you restart.

How to rebirth without trouble:

  1. Check the requirement early. Open the rebirth menu as soon as you can, so you know which Brainrots to look for instead of guessing.
  2. Guard the Brainrots you need. Other players know what rebirths ask for, so lock your base once you have them.
  3. Never sell a required Brainrot by accident. Check the menu before you sell anything to free a slot.
  4. Save hard when you are close. Reaching the cash target a few minutes sooner is worth more than a new piece of gear.
  5. Rebirth once you qualify. The higher multiplier usually makes up for what you gave up.

Each rebirth asks for more cash and rarer Brainrots than the one before, so progress slows down the further you go. That is normal.

Beginner mistakes to avoid

  • Leaving your base open while you shop at the carpet. This is how most new players lose their first good Brainrot.
  • Forgetting to collect. It is easy to miss the perfect Brainrot because your cash was still sitting on the plates.
  • Spending everything on gear first. Brainrots make money and gear protects it. Fill your slots with Brainrots before you spend much on gear.
  • Keeping weak Brainrots forever. A base full of Commons earns very little, so sell the weakest to make room.
  • Falling for an open-base trap. Some players leave their base open on purpose, then lock it once you are inside. While you are stuck in there, your own base is open to everyone. If it happens, reset your character to get out.
  • Rebirthing without reading the menu. Know what you are giving up before you confirm.
  • Believing "free Brainrot" offers. Nobody outside the game can give you Brainrots, and anyone asking for your login is trying to take your account.

Trading safely: the scams to watch for

Trading lets you swap Brainrots with other players, and it is also where beginners get scammed the most. Learn these rules before your first trade:

  • Use only the game's own trading system. It lets both players see the whole offer before anyone accepts. If someone asks you to hand over your Brainrot first and "trust" them, walk away.
  • Never trade for Robux, real money or accounts. Roblox says it cannot enforce deals made outside its official features, and it cannot give back items or Robux you lose that way.
  • Nobody can duplicate Brainrots for you. "Give me yours and I will dupe it" is always a scam.
  • Be careful with private server invites from strangers. Some scammers invite people to a private server for a "trade", then trap them and steal their best Brainrot. Only join private servers with people you know in real life.
  • Ignore "free Secret Brainrot" giveaways. Videos, comments and Discord posts that send you to a website, ask you to log in or tell you to paste something are trying to steal your account.
  • Never share your password, cookies or 2-Step Verification codes. Not with friends, not with "helpers" and not with anyone who says they are staff. Roblox employees will never ask for them.
  • Treat value lists as guesses. Fans make them, and they change all the time. If a deal looks too good, ask yourself why the other player wants it.
  • Report it and tell someone. Use the Report feature on scammers, and tell a parent or another adult you trust if someone pressures you.

The same tricks show up outside the game. There is no such thing as a free Robux generator, and our guide to getting Robux safely covers the real ways.

Frequently asked questions

What should I buy first in Steal a Brainrot?

Start with Noobini Pizzanini, the cheap Common the game points you to. After that, fill your empty slots with the Brainrot that earns the most cash per second you can afford, and save most gear for later. A Slap is a good first piece of gear once your slots are filling up.

How does rebirth work in Steal a Brainrot?

The rebirth menu asks for a set amount of cash plus one or two specific Brainrots in your base. Rebirthing takes those Brainrots and resets your cash, but gives you a bigger cash multiplier, more lock time, more room in your base and new gear in the shop.

How do I stop people stealing my Brainrots?

Step on your base's lock pad every time you leave your base, and get back before the timer runs out. If someone grabs a Brainrot, lock your base first if it is open, then hit the thief with your bat or a slap and the Brainrot goes back to your base.

Can my Brainrots be stolen while I am offline?

No. Your base is only in a server while you are in it, so when you leave, your Brainrots leave with you. They can only be stolen while you are playing.

Can anyone give me free Brainrots or duplicate mine?

No. Duplication offers and "free Secret Brainrot" giveaways are scams that are often built to steal your account. Only trade through the game's own trading system, and never share your password or login codes.
