Brookhaven RP Beginner's Guide: Tips and 15 Roleplay Ideas

Brookhaven RP, created by Wolfpaq in 2020, has become one of the most visited experiences in Roblox history. There is no score and no single goal: it is a town where you choose a house, a car and a character, then make up stories with everyone around you. Here is how to get started, and plenty of ideas for what to play.

Getting started

Claim a house

Walk up to an empty house and claim it. Many houses are free. Some special ones come with the Premium game pass. You can lock your house to keep uninvited players out, which is handy when you want a quiet scene.

Get a car

Open the vehicle menu and pick one. It appears right beside you, ready to drive. There is nothing to grind for: vehicles are there to help the story.

Make your character

Brookhaven has its own avatar editor, so you can dress for a role, like a doctor, a police officer or a student, without changing your normal Roblox outfit. You can also set a roleplay name and short bio that shows above your head.

Explore the town

The town has a hospital, a school, police and fire stations, shops, a bank and plenty of homes. Each one is a ready-made stage for a story. The bank vault in particular is famous for robbery roleplay, usually followed by a police chase.

Jobs are for the story

You can be a doctor, firefighter, teacher or police officer, but jobs in Brookhaven do not pay a salary to grind. They are roles to play. That freedom is what makes the game work: you can switch from a chef to a detective in a minute.

Roleplay words you'll see

• RP: roleplay, acting out a story as a character.
• IC: in character, speaking or acting as your role.
• OOC: out of character, speaking as yourself, often in brackets: "(OOC: brb)".
• BRB: be right back.
• AFK: away from keyboard.
• NPC: a character controlled by the game, not a player.
• Powergaming: deciding what happens to other people's characters without giving them a choice. Avoid it.

Good roleplay manners

• Ask before joining someone else's scene, and accept a no.
• Let other players react. "I try to catch you" is fair; "I catch you and you can't escape" is powergaming.
• Keep OOC chat short so the story keeps flowing.
• If someone keeps ruining your scene on purpose, block or report them, or simply move to another server.
