Murder Mystery 2 Tips: How to Win as Innocent, Sheriff and Murderer
Murder Mystery 2, or MM2, is one of the longest-running hits on Roblox, created by Nikilis. Every round, one player is secretly the Murderer, one is the Sheriff and everyone else is Innocent. Here is how to win more often in every role.
How a round works
At the start of each round you see your own role, and only yours. The Murderer has a knife and wins by eliminating everyone before time runs out. The Sheriff has a gun and has to stop the Murderer. Innocents survive, collect coins and help. If the Murderer is shot, or the timer runs out with anyone still alive, the Innocents and Sheriff win.
Two rules change everything:
- If the Sheriff shoots an Innocent, the Sheriff dies too.
- If the Sheriff dies, the gun drops. An Innocent who picks it up can become the Hero and win the round.
Tips for Innocents
- Stay near other players and in open spaces. The Murderer looks for players who are alone in corners and corridors.
- Keep moving while you collect coins. Standing still with your back to the room is how most Innocents go out.
- Watch hands, not names. The moment someone pulls out a knife, run and tell everyone where it happened.
- Know where the gun dropped. When the Sheriff falls, the gun is the most important thing on the map. Grab it if you can do it safely.
- Keep your distance. The Murderer can throw the knife, so a straight line of open floor is not always safe. Move sideways and use corners.
Tips for the Sheriff
- Be sure before you shoot. A wrong shot costs your life and drops the gun. Wait until you see the knife or someone else gets hit.
- Don't announce yourself. If the Murderer knows who the Sheriff is, you become the first target.
- Position near groups. Innocents act as an early warning system, and being near them puts you in range when the Murderer strikes.
- Lead your shot. Players move, so aim slightly where they are going, especially across long rooms.
Tips for the Murderer
- Blend in. Collect coins and move with the crowd like any Innocent. A Murderer who acts normally is much harder to spot.
- Find the Sheriff first. Once the Sheriff is out, the gun drops, so be ready for an Innocent going for it.
- Pick off players who wander alone rather than charging into groups.
- Use the throw for players who are too far to reach, but remember a miss gives you away.
Coins, crates and rarities
Coins scattered around each map fill your coin bag. They go toward crates and boxes that hold cosmetic knives, guns and pets. Rarities run from Common up to Legendary and Godly, with even rarer types such as Chroma and Ancient above that.
Skins are cosmetic. A Godly knife works exactly like the default one. Rarity is about looks and trade value, not power.
Trade safely
MM2's trading scene is huge, so it attracts scammers. Keep it simple:
- Only trade through the in-game trade window, where both sides are visible before anyone accepts.
- Never give an item first because someone promised to give it back "with a bonus".
- Ignore anyone offering item duplication. It is always a scam.
- Never share your password or log in on a "value checker" site that asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if the Sheriff kills an Innocent in MM2?
The Sheriff dies as well, and the gun drops on the map for an Innocent to pick up.
Do Godly knives do more damage in Murder Mystery 2?
No. Every knife and gun skin works the same. Rarity only changes how it looks and how much it is worth in trades.
